Inés Macho-Stadler is an Emeritus Research Professor of the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE) and a retired professor from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), where she was a member of the UAB Economics and Economic History Department’s Unit for Economics Analysis, one of BSE’s academic units.
She is a member of the BSE Academic Council. In the past, she served as the director of the IDEA PhD Program (UAB and BSE) and was also the editor of the BSE Focus.
Professor Macho-Stadler’s research interests are in Economics of Information, Economics of Science and Innovation, and Game Theory. She has conducted research related with incentives in health economics, the financing of startups, and proposing cooperative solutions for sharing the surplus.
Her work has been published in leading journals such Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Health Economics, Management Science, and Games and Economic Behavior. She also wrote the textbook, An Introduction to the Economics of Information: Incentives and Contracts (joint with David Pérez-Castrillo), published by Oxford University Press.
She has served in an editorial capacity for publications such as Journal of Economics & Management Strategy, Games and Economic Behavior, Journal of Public Economic Theory, Revue d’Economie Politique, Revue Economique, and Spanish Economic Review.
Macho-Stadler has been a member of the advisory bodies of ISEAK, ECOBAS, the Spanish-Portuguese Association of Natural and Environmental Resources Economics (AERNA), “la Caixa” Research Department, and the Observatoire Français des Conjonctures Économiques (OFCE), among others.
She has also been a visiting professor at many universities, such as the University of Copenhagen, the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, and the University of Osaka.
Inés Macho-Stadler holds a PhD in Economics from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in France.
